Ah yes black and white TV tunes to UHF with a finicky vertical hold… so many memories.
Love all of this and definitely love those Transmission pieces. Their tones and patterns made me wonder if you have ever worked on metal? I could see your stuff on steel plate or even corrugated sheets.
Thanks, Davin. It’s interesting that you mentioned metal because I worked with aluminum sheets as a substrate for a while in the late ‘90s. I have photos of some of that stuff around somewhere, will post when I find them.
As for new work on metal, I’m not sure. If the right idea or opportunity comes up, I may consider it, but right now it’s not a material I’m excited about using unless perhaps it’s in a recycling/reuse capacity. Even then, my current creative concerns don’t really align with metal.
Thanks, Jenna, I try to live and make everything with that foundation in mind. It’s particularly handy when I feel that I’m about to talk myself out of doing something that’s maybe a little out of my comfort zone.
Wow! There is something soothing and earthy about the 2016 series, really beautiful! Hmm…I remember our B/w TV days also, when the antenna broke and a hanger was used to replace it! I remember thinking during thunderstorms, that lightening would find that hanger and electrocute the whole house! 😂
Thanks, Indigene! I’m glad that you like this series. It’s an interesting, cool thought that you find them soothing. Yes, the “hanger antennas”! They were ever so fickle, too.
No, they aren’t going to be shown anytime soon unless there’s a good fit for them in a group exhibition or something. You’re certainly welcome to visit!

I love the “what if” “why not” foundation.

Will they be a part of a new exhibition? I may have to come to your studio to visit!💐👏🏾
