Thank you! Collage has been a part of my work for a long time, both digitally and with physical works. I can't say exactly how long because it's just something I do here and there in paintings and mostly works on paper.
Love these images! The pattern collages are amazing. Using both digital and analog methods, sometimes within the same piece, can be so rewarding because of the strange effects it produces. I’m usually most satisfied with something when it doesn’t clearly communicate exactly how it was made.
Thank you, Talia! I enjoyed bringing together digital and physical imagery in these. Some were more successful than others, but I did so with the intent you wrote in your last sentence. I definitely wanted to try and bring some of those images together in ways that made it harder to figure out the making of it.
I’ve been thinking about the divide between fine art and digital art and if/how/when that divide will break down over time. With our technological culture, I think there’s even greater inherent value in traditional, handmade media. But your work is such a beautiful proof point that digital art can and should cross into the realm of fine art.
Thanks for your response, Jill, I appreciate your thoughts about the work! I look at digital and physical/fine/analogue art as all being art. For me, there's no dividing line. There are different modes of making, experiencing and distributing digital and physical works, but it all stems from the same place and acts the same way in the effects it can have on us in terms of questioning everything.
Now, some may disagree about the "value" (monetary and/or status-wise) of certain types of art versus others. However, in general, the creative impulses that drive different types of art come from the same spaces of curiosity, questioning and our innate need for expression that goes beyond our everyday lives as an extension of ourselves.
Thanks, Davin! This has been in the back of my mind for some time, as you know, so it was nice to be able to articulate what this work means to me and it’s relation to my physical works.
What a fascinating and inspiring feast for the eyes! Love seeing where things crossover with your analog work and where they diverge and get playful and experimental. That black and white video with the slowed down wave definitely took me to another dimension, another place in the universe!
Thank you very much, Diana! I appreciate your feedback. I’ve lived with those works for a while and still get excited about them. I read a lot of sci-fi and a lot of the works came from a place of examining what might it feel like to suddenly be in another type of existence in some place out in the cosmos far away from Earth and what we know about the rules of gravity, time and other things.
I read the book last year and LOVED IT. Very of the moment even though it was written 40 years ago. Haven't seen any adaptations but it looked amazing in my mind as I was reading it...
Wow! Your work's amazing! When did you start collaging?
It's gorgeous, honestly. By the way, have you ever checked out the work by Hundred Wasser? I think you'll like it :)

Love that, couldn't agree more. Expression and intent hold much greater weight than medium!
Just brilliant
Thank you very much🙏🏾
Yes! This was a joy to read and see Tim. I loved all of this work and the set of roles it has played in your practice.

I was actually thinking Ender's Game with that video - those battle practice rooms....
Nice, interesting, that’s one I haven’t read nor have I seen the series.
