Took a bit of a break from social media(other than posting my work). But so enjoyed coming here and reading your post! Itβs a struggle out here, but your optimism and endurance is inspiring. Thank you for continuing!ππΎππΎππΎ
Thank you for taking the time to write for us. Your honesty and authenticity shine through both your works and your words. I'm intrigued by the space created in "Deeper Than You'll Ever Know", achieved by glazing and layers of paint (?)
Hi MIra, thanks for your comments and question. The main visual element of Deeper Than Youβll Ever Know was made with several layers of trial and error and collaged line drawings on drafting paper with matte acrylic gel.
Excellent! Now I see it. Thanks! Always appreciate your thoughtful comments. BTW, I went to Rashid Johnson's YouTube video. Intriguing work. It's a pleasure to see what you both are doing.
The chunk of "The War of Art" that I read yesterday mentioned the importance of being comfortably uncomfortable. Perfect timing to drive this home for me!
Youβre welcome. There seems to be something in the air recently, regarding being uncomfortable and leaning into the tension that's created when you move to do something that's out of your comfort zone. Besides that video in my post with Rashid Johnson, I've come across a couple of other posts on Substack about this same topic.
As the Wayans Brothers used to say on skits from In Living Color: "Message!"
